A complete transformation of a contemporary café to a rustic Italian restaurant. Located in Klienburg, the owner felt the change was necessary to meet the needs of the home-owners and visitors in the area. The design challenge was to connect the space with the food being served. Simple eating with bold Italian flavors required the environment to be warm and familiar. Many familiar materials were used, raw select pine board, cedar fence post to make the cedar mosaic, walnut, and marble. The illumination of each niche display brings out the complex details yet giving an overall sense of simplicity, very much like the food served.
